Field Recording 5: Site 8

What would a Wisconsin winter be without the snowplows? I had stopped by some apartments and managed to record a snowplow in the distance. I turned up the microphone sensitivity and got this. See the photos, click one or two. To see a larger scan of the drawing, click drawing.

Normally, I would associate windchimes with summer. I guess the residents of this apartment building forgot that they left their windchimes outside. But that's okay, it was a welcome sound. Click here to listen, or on this and that for photos. To see larger scan of the drawing, click drawing.

Walking around in the cold sucked and then one of the straps on my backpack broke. To make things easier for me I kept the microphones pinned to my jacket. As I continued on my trek, I found myself surrounded by the familiar sound of snow blowers. Click here to listen. Click on this to see the photo. To see larger scan of the drawing, click drawing.

Walking around in a snowstorm is not fun, but it is better than having to shovel the snow. I had clipped my microphones to my jacket and stood about 20 yards from some poor guy trying to shovel his driveway. Chick here to hear it. To see the photos click on this and this. After a few tosses of the dice, I found myself nearby the Whitefish Bay Public Library. I juggled with my equipment and clipped the microphones to a small tree. I picked up the sound of cars driving over the wet pavement.
